Only 50 km southeast of Guayaquil you will find the Natural Reserve Manglares Churute, one of the finest and most diverse protected areas of the tropical lowlands of Ecuador, definitely a must for nature lovers. In the morning you will take a scenic boat ride through the best preserved mangrove forests throughout the Ecuadorian Pacific Coast. During the trip, you will watch a variety of bird species: egrets, herons, ibises, cormorants, pelicans, roseate spoonbills, kingfishers and much more. At low tide you can observe how the locals collect the red mangrove crabs. Afterwards you take a short hike through the tropical dry forest of the nature reserve. You have a good chance to watch howler monkeys.
