Jondachi-Jatunyacu 3d/2n
Day 1:
We leave Quito in the early morning on a scenic drive along the old road that winds through the eastern slopes of the Andes, crossing a 13,000ft pass before descending into rain forest. Our journey takes us through Papallacta, famous for its thermal springs before we reach the small Amazonian town of Tena.
Day 2:
After breakfast and receiving safety instructions, we begin navigating down the class III Jatunyacu River. The river is notable for its varied and interesting wild life and spectacular landscape. After about 6 hours, we reach our next camp.
Day 3:
A leisurely, easy-going morning floating down the Jatunyacu towards the town of Misahualli, enjoying the beautiful jungle scenery. Along the way we pull in at some of the deserted beaches to swim or observe the local wildlife life. We return to Quito in the early evening.
